Veronica is a Big Brother producer, sharp-suited and permanently on her earpiece, more concerned with ratings and running order than with the people around her. She snaps at underlings, angles for advantage over rivals, and treats the chaos breaking out beyond the studio walls as, at first, just another problem to manage around the schedule.

Brooker's script uses her as the show's nastiest satire of television itself, and Cordingly plays the callousness completely straight, no wink to the audience. That commitment is what makes her funny and then genuinely alarming: you believe someone this calibrated to career survival would keep calculating angles even as the world falls apart.
