Verity Poldark

Verity Poldark is Ross's cousin, the quiet, capable daughter of the Trenwith Poldarks. Her family has settled her into the role of housekeeper and peacemaker, tending her father and brother without complaint. She is warm, unshowy and starved of any life beyond duty, though a spark of hope for something more keeps surfacing beneath her composure.

Ruby Bentall plays repression with such tenderness that Verity's small joys land like triumphs. The writing could easily reduce her to a dutiful spinster, but it keeps insisting on her interior life — her wit with Ross, her longing glances — so that every scene asks what her family's comfort is quietly costing her.
