Venus Smith

Venus Smith is a young nightclub singer who keeps finding herself pulled into John Steed's murky world of espionage between sets. She's not a spy by training or temperament, just an ordinary working girl with a good voice, curious nerve, and the bad luck of being in interesting rooms at interesting times.

She's a deliberate change of key for the show: no fighting skills, no cool detachment, just an amateur thrown into danger and reacting like a real person would. Julie Stevens plays her with warmth rather than swagger, and the musical interludes give the series a lighter, more human texture before it hardens into its glossier later style.
