Vala Mal Doran

Vala Mal Doran blows into Daniel Jackson's life as a con artist, thief, and former host to the Goa'uld Qetesh, working every angle for her own survival. She flirts, lies, and steals with equal ease, handcuffs herself to Daniel for reasons entirely her own, and treats SG-1's rules as suggestions to be charmingly ignored.

Claudia Black plays her at a gallop, all sly grins and instant reinvention, so the show's most straight-laced team suddenly has someone who refuses to behave. The writing lets her be genuinely untrustworthy rather than a rogue-with-a-heart cliché, and Black finds the wit and the wound underneath without ever slowing down to explain either.
