Ultimate Mechamaru

Mechamaru fights from a distance, his true body far away and frail, piloting a lean puppet frame through Kyoto's jujutsu ranks. Cool, transactional, and openly mercenary about sorcery as a trade rather than a calling, he escalates mid-battle into a towering mechanized form bristling with new armaments, fighting with the calculating detachment of someone who has already priced out every outcome.

The concept does the heavy lifting: a sorcerer who can't inhabit his own victories in person, watching combat through a proxy, gives every fight an eerie remove. Matsuoka plays him flat and unbothered even as the robot escalates absurdly in scale, and that clash between deadpan voice and spectacle is what makes the reveal of his full arsenal land as both funny and unsettling.
