Tristan Farnon

Tristan is Siegfried Farnon's younger brother, a veterinary student forever on the edge of failing his exams, more often found in the pub than the surgery. Charming, quick-witted and allergic to hard work, he dodges chores and lectures alike with a grin, relying on good humour to smooth over every scrape he causes at Skeldale House.

Peter Davison plays him with such buoyant likability that his laziness never curdles into something unlikeable — you root for him even as he shirks. The writing uses him as comic counterweight to Siegfried's blustering temper, and Davison's timing turns every dodged responsibility into a small, delightful act of mischief.
