Transition Announcer

A booming, unseen voice that occasionally interrupts Futurama's scenes to narrate mundane transitions as though they were the stuff of blockbuster cinema, announcing things like time skips or location changes with the portentous gravity of a movie trailer. He never appears on screen, has no stake in the plot, and exists purely between scenes.

Maurice LaMarche brings his full Don LaFontaine-style trailer-voice bravado to describing the most trivial narrative beats imaginable, and the mismatch between delivery and content is the whole joke. It's a tiny, disposable gag that never overstays its welcome, precisely because it treats a scene change like the fate of the universe.
