Tophat Jones

Tophat Jones turns up in the Smith-Sanchez family's photos and home movies like he's always been there — a grinning, top-hatted guy with a big laugh and a catchphrase for every occasion. Nobody can quite place how they met him, but everyone agrees he's great fun, endlessly warm, and always up for an adventure.

He's a joke about sitcom filler characters taken to its logical extreme: pure affability with zero specific memory attached, which becomes funnier the longer the family can't explain who he actually is. Justin Roiland plays him with cheerful, catchphrase-happy enthusiasm that's exactly one notch too eager to be entirely trustworthy.
