Toni

Toni drifts into Mark and Jeremy's orbit as one half of a couple whose easy, open confidence makes both flatmates feel hopelessly square by comparison. She's warm, a little unreadable, and seems entirely unbothered by the social rules Mark clings to — which is exactly what draws him in and unsettles him at once.

Peep Show usually laughs at Mark and Jeremy's neuroses by contrast with people who function normally, and Toni is a sharp instrument for that: Elizabeth Marmur plays her with a breezy self-possession that never tips into caricature, letting the joke sit entirely on Mark's flailing interior monologue rather than on her.
