Tome Kurata

Tome Kurata is a first-year at Mob's school and the sole, fiercely committed president of its Telepathy Club, hunting for real psychic phenomena with a notebook and total conviction. She's bright, blunt, and easily swept up in her own theories, badgering classmates for evidence and refusing to be embarrassed by how odd her hobby looks.

The show could easily make Tome a joke — the girl chasing psychics in a world that has one sitting right next to her — but Atsumi Tanezaki plays her conviction so straight, so unembarrassed, that her eventual closeness to the truth feels earned rather than comic. Her enthusiasm is the show's warmest, funniest register.
