Tom Garvey

Tom is Kevin Garvey's son, and in the wake of the Sudden Departure he's drifted from his fracturing family into the orbit of a self-styled healer named Holy Wayne. He's been given a job: guard a young pregnant woman named Christine, whom Wayne claims is carrying someone important. Tom does it with total, unquestioning sincerity.

The premise could easily tip into cult-thriller camp, but Zylka plays Tom's devotion as genuinely tender rather than dupe-ish — a kid grasping for meaning and purpose he can't find at home. That earnestness keeps one of the show's stranger threads emotionally legible, and makes his loyalty feel like a real choice rather than brainwashing.
