Tom Anderson

Tom Anderson is a young detective constable working the Belfast murder squad under DSU Stella Gibson's command. Eager and a little starstruck by his new superior, he throws himself into the investigation with the diligence of someone still proving himself, while quietly navigating an attraction to Stella that complicates the professional distance between them.

Colin Morgan plays the ordinary competence of junior police work with real conviction, making Tom feel like a person rather than a plot function. The character's youth and inexperience are used deliberately, exposing the power imbalance in his entanglement with Stella without ever tipping into melodrama, thanks to Morgan's restrained, watchful performance.
