Thyra

Thyra is the daughter of Earl Ragnar, growing up in the warm, boisterous Danish household that takes in the young Saxon captive Uhtred. She is affectionate, teasing, and utterly unguarded, treating Uhtred like a brother and delighting in the rough, generous life of her father's hall. Her happiness is the household's happiness.

Julia Bache-Wiig plays Thyra with an easy, unforced warmth that makes Ragnar's hall feel like a real home rather than a plot device. Her closeness with Uhtred gives the early episodes their emotional ballast, so that the tenderness of that world lands before the story's violence does.
