The Scary Door Narrator

He appears whenever Futurama cuts away to "The Scary Door," a fictional anthology show the characters occasionally watch. In a clipped, portentous baritone, he sets up absurd little morality tales — usually with a twist ending that arrives absurdly fast — then signs off before anyone can react.

The joke is entirely in the impression: Maurice LaMarche's dead-on Rod Serling cadence lets the show spoof Twilight Zone-style anthology television in about fifteen seconds flat, twist and all. It works because the parody trusts the audience to know the reference instantly and never overexplains it.
