The Mother
The Mother in How I Met Your Mother (2005), played by Cristin Milioti.
She is the answer to the question the whole show has been asking: the woman standing on a train platform with a yellow umbrella, waiting for a cab in the rain. When she finally steps into frame, she is funny, quick, a little chaotic, and immediately more interesting than the mystery built around her.
After years of teasing, the show hands the reveal to Cristin Milioti and she makes it look easy — a whole personality in minutes, dry wit, warmth, a bass slung over her shoulder. She earns the hype instead of just cashing it in, which is the harder trick.
