The Force

A cosmic voice that turns up when the universe needs someone imposing to explain it — booming, self-assured, and delivered with the theatrical grandeur of a being who has clearly never doubted himself. He arrives mid-crisis, speaks in pronouncements rather than sentences, and treats the tiny mortals around him as an audience owed a sermon.

Maurice LaMarche brings his full Orson Welles register to a role that exists mostly to be enormous, and Futurama's writers know exactly what to do with that: undercut the grandeur the instant it lands. The joke is the gap between the voice's certainty and the absurdity of what it's certain about, and LaMarche never blinks.
