Terry

Terry is the chef at Fawlty Towers, breezing into the kitchen with a cigarette and an unbothered shrug at whatever chaos is unfolding in the dining room. He is cheerful, easygoing, and largely indifferent to Basil's panic, cooking competently enough but never losing his relaxed, slightly cheeky manner under pressure.

Brian Hall plays Terry as a small pocket of calm amid Basil's constant hysteria, and the contrast is the joke: while the hotel implodes around him, Terry stays affable and faintly amused, unhurried by disaster. That imperturbability, delivered with a light, working-class matter-of-factness, makes him a welcome counterweight to the show's mounting mayhem.
