Tehwahsehkwe

Tehwahsehkwe is a Mohawk man the Frasers encounter as their travels bring them into contact with his community. He carries himself with quiet authority, weighing the strangers before him with careful, unhurried attention rather than open hostility. He wants his people's autonomy respected, and meets outsiders on his own terms.

Tom Jackson brings a stillness to the role that reads as confidence rather than reticence, letting silences do work that dialogue would only clutter. The character resists the frontier-drama shorthand of noble stoicism by seeming genuinely amused, watchful, and in command of the exchange rather than a prop for the Frasers' journey.
