Taran MacQuarrie

Taran MacQuarrie leads a band of Highland outlaws and smugglers, moving contraband and printing seditious pamphlets under the noses of the Crown. He is quick with a joke, quicker with a blade, and pulls Jamie into his orbit with the promise of coin and mischief. Charm and menace sit side by side in him.

Douglas Henshall plays him as pure theatrical relish — a man who treats danger as entertainment and recruits with a grin rather than a threat. The writing keeps him just unpredictable enough that his warmth never fully cancels out the risk he represents, so every scene with him carries a low hum of not-quite-safety.
