Stu turns up in the margins of Nick's world, one more grown-up in a town full of them, sized less by plot than by voice. He isn't chasing anything grand — he's just present, another odd adult orbiting the middle-schoolers' chaos with his own small, particular hang-ups.

Nick Kroll treats even a bit part like a chance to build a whole voice from scratch, and Stu gets the same care as his bigger creations — a specific cadence, a specific kind of pathetic charm. He works because the show never wastes a background adult; every one gets a joke shaped just for them.
