Steve Connolly is Trish Winterman's ex-husband, a fixture of the taxi firm at the centre of the assault investigation gripping Broadchurch. He's affable and a little wounded, still tangled up in Trish's life even after the marriage ended, and quickly finds himself under suspicion alongside every other man she knows.

Will Mellor plays him as ordinary rather than shifty, which is exactly the point: the drama keeps testing whether decency and guilt can look identical from the outside. That tension, watching a familiar, slightly sad ex-husband held up against the possibility of something terrible, is what makes him unsettling to watch.
