Spotty Teen Robot

Spotty Teen Robot appears as one of Futurama's background gags: a robot rendered as an awkward adolescent, complete with the mechanical equivalent of acne. Sulky and self-conscious, it slouches through scenes the way any embarrassed teenager would, more concerned with its own malfunctioning image than with whatever plot is unfolding around it.

The joke lives entirely in the concept — that even robots inherit the indignities of puberty — and Tress MacNeille sells it with exactly the right note of put-upon adolescent misery. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bit, but it's the kind of throwaway world-building detail that makes Futurama's universe feel fully, absurdly lived-in.
