Special Agent John Doggett

Doggett arrives at the FBI's X-Files office as a hard-nosed former New York cop and Bureau company man, assigned to find Mulder and keep an eye on Scully. He's skeptical of alien conspiracies and paranormal leaps, preferring dogged legwork and plain facts, and he doesn't pretend otherwise to anyone.

Robert Patrick plays him with a flat, unglamorous toughness that refuses to ape Mulder's charisma, which is exactly the point: Doggett is a believer in evidence, not mythology, and watching that stubbornness collide with Scully's hard-won faith gives the show's late seasons a genuinely different, grounded friction.
