Special Agent Fox Mulder

Fox Mulder is an FBI agent obsessed with the paranormal, chasing UFOs and government conspiracies with a believer's zeal born from a personal wound he rarely discusses openly. Assigned the derided X-Files, he wants the truth, sees patterns others dismiss, and treats skepticism as a challenge rather than a deterrent. Charming, stubborn, a little strange.

Duchovny plays conviction with a dry, deadpan wit that keeps Mulder from tipping into caricature — his certainty is funny and unsettling in equal measure. The show trusts him to be wrong sometimes, which makes his rare moments of vindication land, and pairs his obsession against Scully's rigor to spark the show's central, durable argument.
