Space Bee #4
Space Bee #4 in Futurama (1999), played by David Herman.
Space Bee #4 is exactly what the name promises: one member of a swarm of anthropomorphic bees encountered somewhere out in the vastness of the Futurama universe, buzzing through a background gag with no grand ambitions beyond existing as a punchline in insect form.
The joke is the deadpan specificity of numbering a background bee at all, and David Herman's voice work commits fully to a nothing part, treating a one-line insect like a fully formed guy. That commitment to a throwaway is the entire pleasure — Futurama trusts you to notice.
At least two Planet Express crews have been sent by Professor Farnsworth to collect space honey from the Space Bees' honeycomb. The Space Bee's sting normally results in instant death if the person stung is not allergic. If the person stung is allergic, the results are much more gruesome as the innards of the stung person will boil out of the eye sockets.
