Small-role players like this one are the show's ballast: while Moira monologues or David spirals, the Sound Engineer just works, and that contrast is the joke. Francks plays it straight-faced and unbothered, which lets the scene's real comedy — the town's oddballs colliding with ordinary competence — land clean.
