Skade enters The Last Kingdom as a captive shieldmaiden with a reputation for sorcery, claiming visions others fear to dismiss. Sharp-tongued and unbowed by chains, she reads the men around her as easily as any prophecy, using charm, threat and prediction interchangeably to work her way toward freedom and influence.

The show never quite confirms whether Skade's gift is real or performance, and that ambiguity is the point — Thea Sofie Loch Næss plays her with a stillness that makes every claim feel possible. She's dangerous precisely because she adapts to whoever holds power, a survivor's cunning dressed as prophecy.
