Sinbad

Sinbad turns up in Big Mouth the way he turns up in internet folklore: as a hallucination, a fever-dream guru who appears to kids at their most vulnerable and dispenses cryptic, nonsensical wisdom. He is less a character than a glitch in reality, referencing a genie movie that doesn't exist and acting utterly certain that it does.

The joke only works because Jordan Peele commits to Sinbad's serene, unbothered authority, never winking at how absurd the bit is. Big Mouth loves puncturing puberty's melodrama with pure non sequitur, and Sinbad is the purest distillation of that impulse: a Mandela-effect fever dream given a booming, reassuring voice.
