Titus Welliver plays him with a coiled, unhurried menace that never tips into cartoon villainy — Silas is funny, sharp-tongued, and weirdly principled beneath the mercenary surface. The pleasure is watching a man built for self-interest keep surprising you with flashes of loyalty and dry, exact wit.
