Sign-Writer

Sign-Writer appears exactly as advertised: a background figure in the Futurama universe whose entire function is putting words on placards and storefronts for the world of New New York. He's a blink-and-miss-it presence, the kind of incidental character the show uses to cram one more joke into a single frame.

Futurama's genius has always been in its margins, and a character defined solely by his job title is a perfect vehicle for that. Maurice LaMarche, already doing heavy lifting elsewhere in the cast, gives even a nothing role a bit of texture, proof the show cared about voicing its wallpaper as much as its leads.
