Shuji Ishii-Peters

Shuji is Maya's older brother, a cool, self-assured teenager who treats his younger sister with the casual cruelty and embarrassment particular to siblings close in age but worlds apart in status. He's more interested in his own social standing than in her middle-school dramas, and lets her know it.

Dallas Liu plays him as an actual teenager among the show's grown adults performing thirteen-year-olds, and that gap gives Shuji an effortless, unstudied authenticity — he doesn't have to act awkward, he just is a normal older brother, which makes his teasing of Maya sting and land as real as anything else in the house.
