Shinichi Maki

Maki captains Sannoh Kogyo, the team everyone calls Japan's strongest high school squad. He is composed almost to the point of looking bored, a veteran guard who has already won everything there is to win and expects to keep winning. He watches opponents with the patience of someone who has seen every trick before.

Egawa plays him low and level, never raising his voice even as Shohoku's upstarts start landing blows that should rattle him. That stillness is the point: Maki is the wall the whole tournament arc needs, and the cracks in his calm, when they finally show, mean more because of how long he withheld them.
