Sheriff Furley

Sheriff Furley turns up as one of the countless one-scene faces that populate Futurama's crowded universe, an authority figure barking orders with the blunt, exasperated certainty of a man who has seen every kind of nonsense the future can throw at him and is done being surprised by any of it.

The joke is entirely in the voice: Billy West, already juggling half the regular cast, drops into another register and gives a bit-part lawman a whole worn-out personality in a handful of lines. It's a small pleasure that rewards viewers who clock how much texture the show packs into its margins.
