Shane Walsh

Shane Walsh is a sheriff's deputy who has kept a small band of survivors alive on a hillside outside Atlanta, sure that his partner Rick did not make it. He has taken charge of the group, including Rick's wife Lori and son Carl, and leads with the blunt confidence of a cop used to being obeyed.

Jon Bernthal plays Shane as a man holding himself together by sheer will, competent and warm one moment, coiled and dangerous the next. The show uses him to ask what leadership costs in a world with no rules left, and Bernthal never lets you settle on whether he's the hero or the warning.
