Sgt. Maj. John Sixta

Sixta is the battalion sergeant major, the man obsessed with discipline for its own sake — shaving standards, radio protocol, boot polish — even as his Marines roll into an active invasion. He barks about proper procedure with the fervor of someone who thinks the war might be won on bearing and grooming alone.

Neal Jones plays him utterly straight, which is the joke: his fixation on cleanliness and etiquette amid chaos is absurd precisely because he never seems to notice the absurdity. The show uses him as a running dose of dark comedy, a reminder of how bureaucracy and vanity persist even inside a war zone.
