Sgt. J.P. Morgan

Sergeant J.P. Morgan is one of the seasoned non-commissioned officers holding together the young Marines of the Pacific campaign. Gruff and unsentimental, he handles his men with the weary authority of someone who has already learned the lessons war is about to teach the newer recruits, and he expects them to catch up fast.

Joshua Bitton plays him with the flat, watchful calm of a man who has stopped being surprised by anything, which makes him a useful anchor amid the miniseries' younger, more visibly frightened faces. He doesn't get speeches; he gets glances and short orders, and Bitton makes those carry the weight of experience the script doesn't spell out.
