Sequoia

Sequoia works alongside Issa at We Got Y'all, the youth-outreach nonprofit, radiating a breezy, self-satisfied liberalism that never quite reads the room. She's friendly, chatty, and utterly convinced of her own good intentions, oblivious to how her comments land on the Black colleagues around her.

She's a small role that does a lot of comic damage: Courtney Taylor plays her with total sincerity, which is exactly what makes the cringe land. Sequoia never knows she's the joke, and the show trusts the audience to catch the gap between her self-image and the discomfort she causes everyone else.
