Sears-Roebuck Salesman

A pitchman selling wares under the old Sears-Roebuck name, he turns up as one of Futurama's many one-scene oddities — brisk, salesy, entirely convinced of whatever he's peddling. He wants a sale and treats the transaction as the whole of the encounter, no more and no less.

He's a small joke built entirely on tone: Billy West drops into a flat, old-timey huckster cadence that sounds like it wandered in from a black-and-white catalogue commercial and refuses to acknowledge the sci-fi future around it. That mismatch, delivered completely straight, is the entire gag — and it lands.
