Scientist #1 is exactly the kind of background figure Futurama loves to toss off with a straight face: a lab-coated functionary who appears to deliver exposition, react to some outlandish discovery, or get flattened by the plot's absurd physics, then vanishes without ceremony.

The joke of a character like this is the deadpan credentials — 'Scientist #1' announced as if that settles who they are — and Tress MacNeille's gift for tossing off a fussy, self-important voice in seconds.
