Saul Goodman

Jimmy—known here as Saul Goodman—is the strip-mall lawyer Albuquerque's criminal element calls when things go wrong. Loud suits, louder billboards, a mouth that never stops running: he sells hope and loopholes to people who've run out of both. When Walt and Jesse need someone to launder money and know which cops look away, Saul is delighted to help, for a fee.

Odenkirk plays him as pure comic relief who somehow never becomes a joke—every scam artist's patter delivered with genuine, undimmed enthusiasm for the hustle itself. He's the show's release valve, but the writing keeps sneaking in flashes of actual competence and even conscience, so the punchline slowly reveals a person. You laugh, then realize you're rooting for him.
