Satehoronies

Satehoronies is a Mohawk man who moves through the North Carolina backcountry with the quiet competence of someone entirely at home there. He is skilled, watchful, and unhurried, forming an easy connection with Young Ian that speaks to shared history. He asks little and reveals less, letting his actions establish who he is.

Gregory Odjig plays him with a stillness that reads as strength rather than reserve, giving the frontier scenes a groundedness they need. The character avoids the noble-stoic cliché by being simply competent and self-possessed, and his rapport with Ian feels lived-in rather than expository, which makes his presence on screen feel earned.
