Samantha Carter

Captain Samantha Carter is an Air Force astrophysicist recruited onto SG-1 as its resident science officer, one of the first women cleared for combat duty on an offworld team. She's whip-smart, exacting, and impatient with anyone who underestimates her, more interested in solving the wormhole in front of her than in proving a point about it.

The show lets her be brilliant without ever treating that as the joke, and Amanda Tapping plays her with a coiled, competitive energy that keeps the technobabble feeling like conviction rather than exposition. Carter is a soldier and a scientist in equal, unresolved measure, and Tapping never lets one erase the other.
