Sam Weir

Sam Weir is a freshman at McKinley High, small for his age and still recovering from his parents' insistence that his sister Lindsay shepherd him through the halls. He's earnest, a little nerdy, obsessed with Star Wars and Bill Murray movies, and nursing a hopeless crush on cheerleader Cindy Sanders while just trying to survive gym class.

The show refuses to make Sam's awkwardness a punchline; it treats his humiliations at fifteen with the same weight he feels them. John Francis Daley plays him without irony or cool detachment, all open nerves and stammering hope, so that his small victories land as genuinely as his defeats sting. He's the show's tender, unguarded heart.
