Sally Reed

Sally Reed is an actress grinding through auditions and a middling acting class in Los Angeles, hungry for a break she can feel slipping away. She's warm and funny with her scene partners, ferociously competitive underneath, and quick to spin every setback into a story where she's still the heroine.

Sarah Goldberg plays ambition without vanity, letting Sally's self-mythologizing curdle into something uncomfortable and true long before the show tips its hand. The writing keeps handing her humiliations and small victories in the same breath, and Goldberg finds the flop-sweat comedy and the real hunger underneath at once.
