Sally

Sally is Rob Brydon's wife back home, mostly present through phone calls that punctuate his restaurant tour with Steve Coogan. She is warm, grounded and a little exasperated by her husband's vanity and impressions, tethering him to an ordinary domestic life of nappies and small talk while he wanders the countryside eating well.

Rebecca Johnson makes Sally feel entirely real against the performative sparring of the two leads — her scenes are unscripted-sounding, tender, faintly weary, the sound of an actual marriage cutting through two men's competitive wit. She's the show's quiet reminder that behind the impressions and one-upmanship there's a whole unglamorous life waiting.
