Saeko Tanaka

Saeko Tanaka rolls up looking like trouble—bleach-blonde hair, biker jacket, a smoker's rasp to her voice—and turns out to be Karasuno's loudest, most devoted cheerleader. She's Tanaka's older sister, unbothered by propriety, and she adores watching the boys play, especially the tiny libero she can't stop hyping up.

She's a great sight gag turned into something warmer: the show sets her up as an intimidating delinquent-type and then lets her be pure, unfiltered support, hollering encouragement with total sincerity. Komatsu plays her big and brash without irony, so the joke becomes affection, and Saeko ends up one of the show's most purely likable adults.
