Roy Tillman

Roy Tillman is the sheriff of a rural Minnesota county, a lawman who wears his Christian faith and his cowboy swagger like a badge of authority. He rules his patch with an iron hand, blurring the line between the law and his own will, and he does not take kindly to anyone who challenges either.

Jon Hamm plays him with total conviction, a man so certain of his own righteousness that menace comes out sounding like folksy charm. The writing lets him be funny and terrifying in the same breath, a self-styled patriarch whose smile never quite reaches his eyes. Hamm makes the danger feel homegrown.
