Rosemary turns up as one of the odd faces drifting through the twisty crowd scenes of New New York, a small but sharply drawn personality who says her piece and moves on. She wants whatever the moment calls for, handled with the flat, matter-of-fact absurdity that makes even bit players in this world feel fully formed.

Futurama never wastes a voice, and Tress MacNeille's gift for clipped, deadpan delivery turns even a passing character into someone worth a second look. Rosemary works because the show trusts a single well-timed line to do the job of a whole backstory, and MacNeille lands it without straining for the joke.
