Roger Wakefield

Roger Wakefield is a young Oxford historian, raised by his kindly adoptive father in the Scottish Highlands, who helps Claire and Brianna dig through parish records and old regiments to trace what became of Jamie Fraser after Culloden. He's bookish, patient, and quietly smitten with Brianna, more comfortable with archives than with confrontation.

Richard Rankin plays him as decency without dullness — a man whose gentleness is a choice rather than an absence of steel, which the writing tests again and again once he's pulled out of the reading room and into the past he's only ever studied. His scholarly calm becomes the very thing the story delights in cracking open.
