Robot Toucan

A mechanical bird glimpsed in the margins of New New York, the Robot Toucan exists to squawk grand pronouncements nobody asked for. It shows up mid-scene, delivers its booming line with total self-importance, and vanishes, having contributed nothing to the plot but noise. It wants only to be heard.

It's a single joke, and the joke is the voice: Maurice LaMarche pitches it like a nature-documentary narrator crossed with a town crier, absurdly grand for a machine that exists for one line. Futurama is full of background gags like this, and the toucan is a perfect miniature of the show's habit of treating throwaway props as tiny, fully committed performances.
